Ten Years War

Seized Properties

 

During the Ten Years War, the Spanish governemt seized the properties of those persons who they considered were supporters of the rebel cause.

The Gobernador Superior Politico (Political Superior Governor) published an Executive Order on 20 April 1869 to that effect. This Executive Order was published in the Gaceta (official newspaper) on 9 July 1869.

Starting in July 1869, lists of names of individuals whose properties were seized were published in the Diario de la Marina (officlal newspaper of the port of La Habana). We will attempt to transcribe the published names as we run accross them.
